NUTRITIONIST SHARES 4 FOODS TO HELP TO LOWER CORTISOL AND DE-STRESS

Do you ever feel like your diet is just not supporting your health or life goals? Do you feel like what you put into your body is causing you more stress than sustenance, and that no matter what you try, you never feel good after a meal? This is where Kayla (@consciouslykay on TikTok) is going to give us a hand.

The hormone called cortisol plays a ton of essential roles in your body, from suppressing inflammation to regulating your stress response. If you are under a lot of stress, your body will release cortisol to help keep you on high alert. If you feel like you are experiencing more stress than usual, it might be worth a try to incorporate foods into your diet that naturally reduce your cortisol levels.

In this video, Kayla lists for us some super important foods for lowering cortisol levels naturally. It may just relieve you of some stress!

As Kayla says, it's worth the try to use food as medicine.

If you can regularly include some of these foods into your diet, then that's perfect! A lot of these are super good ingredients for healthy and balanced meals.

Starting off, we have edamame, eggs, turkey, kale, arugula, Swiss chard, hemp seeds, and sunflower seeds, Another possibility is nutritional yeast, which has been known to also lower cholesterol and boost immune health. This is also super easy to add to your meals.

The last ones Kayla recommends are some old classics: spinach, almonds, walnuts, greek yogurt and kefir. If you're unfamiliar with kefir, this fermented milk drink is also a rich source of calcium, protein and B vitamins.

If you're looking to feel better about the fuel you're putting into your body, and feel better mentally, try adding these cortisol-decreasing foods to your diet.
