EIGHT IMPORTANT RULES WILL HELP YOU LIVE SIX YEARS LONGER: NEW RESEARCH

The duration of our lives is influenced by numerous factors, from genetics and diseases to our diet and physical activity. Research by scientists has shown that adhering to these rules will help you live longer, reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a study published in the journal Heart.org.

What the study involves

Simply put, here are eight fundamental rules for youthfulness: healthy sleep, quitting smoking, regular physical activity, healthy eating, maintaining a healthy body weight, blood glucose levels, cholesterol, and blood pressure.

As part of the study, which will be presented at the AHA scientific sessions this year in Philadelphia, researchers analyzed data from 6,500 adults from different countries.

Overall, participants who scored the highest on all eight fundamental checklists were biologically six years younger than their actual age.

The senior author of the study, Dr. Nour Makarem, reported that scientists found that higher cardiovascular health is associated with slowing down biological aging, measured by phenotypic (biological) age.

"We also found a dose-dependent connection - as cardiovascular health improves, biological aging slows down," she said.

Strict adherence to all eight key life indicators and improving cardiovascular health can slow down the aging process of your body and bring many benefits in the future.

Reduced biological aging is associated not only with a lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease but also with increased longevity and a reduced risk of death.

Phenotypic age is a practical tool for assessing the process of biological aging in our bodies and a reliable predictor of future disease and mortality risk.

The study also showed that people with poor cardiovascular health age faster.

As we reported earlier, a 106-year-old Ukrainian shared the recipe for his longevity.
